Community outreach for the General Plan Update will focus on connecting community members to their community, sharing information about the General Plan Update, and soliciting input from all residents. Engagement is designed to be varied in depth, impact, and reach to allow community members to participate in the planning process in ways that suit your interest level and availability. The City of Newport Beach hosted two open houses in October to provide an overview of the General Plan process, how community input informed the draft, the proposed updates to each element, and the goals. The resources from the in-person open house are available below. In addition, we invite you to watch the recorded virtual open house (on the right), which shares information on the draft elements.

Over the past three years, hundreds of thoughtful responses from Newport Beach residents and community members, collaboration with the 24-member General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC), and background analysis from Phases One and Two, informed the draft elements for the 2050 General Plan. Draft elements are available online for review and comment!
